Hide and Seek

Pushing the jogging stroller last summer, out walking with the kids, I can remember asking God, "Where are you? Why can't I find you?" I felt so very far away. A gentle rebuke, "You know exactly where to find me," came the answer. And I did know. He was in the Bible laying unopened day after day. He was in the stillness when I didn't breathe a prayer. He was in my heart, waiting for it to open.

Those times when we feel the distance - a yard, a mile, open space and emptiness- He has never moved.

Today I was praying for a friend who feels the discordance of being out of step with the Creator. The distance feels like a walk through a dry valley, lengthy and lonesome.

During my prayer, a whisper, If you will seek Me, you will find Me. I promise.

He is a Promise Keeper. Pursue Him, every step will only bring you closer.

Proverbs 8:17
"I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me."
