I have just wrapped up what I consider to be a successful first day of potty training. Our stats were as follows:
6 Accidents vs. 10 Victories!!!! That means Victories win!
Last night I had fever, stuffy head, aches....I was pretty miserable. Didn't know if potty training could start. I woke up in the morning feeling better, though, so I decided to embrace my poor health and use it to my advantage. If I don't feel well, I feel less Stockholm Syndrome when I am stuck home all day.
My other weapon for the day was prayer. I know there were friends and family out there also praying for my sweet boy and it really did help. I prayed specifically for the following:
1. That we would have victories early on. Which we did- after only 2 accidents first thing, Jacob seemed to get the hang of it.
2. That these next three days (I am using a three day potty training method) will be special for both of us as we spend so much time together. And today was special. We played legos, we threw the ball, he helped me put away laundry (until he had an accident because I wasn't paying close enough attention. Consequently, I have abandoned laundry all over my house.) I introduced him to safety scissors, We ran around...all in all a fun day for all.
3. That God would grant me patience when I am tempted to feel frustrated. God was good and gave me this too. I will have to pray doubly hard for more patience for tomorrow.
I'd love to sit and chat, but I've got to go round up my laundry and get it put away since I won't be working on that between the hours of 7am, to 8pm tomorrow. I also have 7 pairs of small boy undies to wash. And I need to lay flat on my back and work out the kinks from running crouched over a million times to the potty today. My sweet boy has about 12 false alarms before he actually goes. I think I easily ran 2 miles today.
Here's to hoping tomorrow gives us even more victories and fewer accidents!
PS. Did I mention that Jacob is the cutest little boy in boxer briefs I have ever seen?
