One thing that he hasn't yet grasped is yesterday. To him, two days ago and two months ago are all yesterday. Christmas was yesterday, his birthday was yesterday and he went to the doctor yesterday (this would be the only thing that actually happened yesterday.)
As I was rushing my spotted boy to the doctor, Jacob mentioned something that happened "yesterday" and it got me thinking. For a believer, because of the Cross, no matter how much time, distance, and sin separates us from God, when we come back to Him in repentance, everything is Yesterday. Yesterday, the day Jesus' blood washed you whiter than snow and bridged the eternal gap. Yesterday, the day the blood of the Lamb, covered your sin. Yesterday, the day God extended His grace and loving mercy upon one so "spotted" I deserved to live and die alone and spend eternity in agony.
No matter how far you go, how long you are gone, how many yesterdays pass by our loving Father will always welcome you home. The days between Today and Yesterday? Forgiven, forgotten, blotted out forever. Come home and take heart, yesterday has paved the way for Tomorrow.
Ps 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
