The Upgrade

Recently we upgraded from Jacob 2.0 to Jacob 3.0. I was not prepared for the glitches this new software would come with. All these years I've been thinking that it was the 2.0 version that was not very user friendly and had a lot of issues, but it has become apparent to me that this is not the case. Jacob 3.0 requires a lot more fine tuning than any of the previous versions.

I've resorted to my Manual many times already, hoping for some clues to help me weed through the new parts of this program. I really need a Jacob 3.0 For Dummies to be honest. Most of the time I'm just not sure why the 3.0 version is doing what it is, or who told it to do it, or how to get it to stop. Not only that, but verion 3.0 takes for ever to boot up in the morning now. Jacob 2.0 was up and running in no time, 3.0 takes it's sweet time and sometimes I even have to reboot because it freezes mid boot.

I know that this new version has some very rewarding and worthwhile applications, I'm just having to get through the new user phase first, figuring out how it works best and under what circumstances and with what other programs running. For example, I have found that Jacob 3.0 Playtime doesn't run well with Kaylen 1.0 Playtime, but if I run Jacob 3.0 Naptime at the same time as Kaylen 1.0 Naptime, then I am able to manage Jacob 3.0 so much better when it runs in the evening. I've also found that the virus software Daddy Pro is really helpful in finding the problem causing vermin and removing them from the system. I've had to use Daddy Pro a lot lately. It was a pricey program, but worth every penny.

Jacob 3.0 was a good upgrade, just tricky. I was so used to the 2.0 version that all the new applications are taking me some time to sort through to see which ones I want to keep and which ones I want to uninstall. I am going to uninstall the Whining app, and I would highly recommend other 3.0 users do the same. Additionally, I have very little use for the Talk Back app and the Picky app. Both of those have to go too.

As we continue using Jacob 3.0 I am sure that we will find that the upgrade was totally worth in, but in the mean time, I have a feeling I've going to be referring to my Manual a lot and talking to the Software Developer even more. Luckily, He's a very dear member of the family- like a Father to me- so I can turn to Him as often as I need and He answers all my questions, even the dumb ones!
