A Healthy Drink Recipe You Will Love

Occasionally I try things I see on Pinterest. Usually it's a project or recipe. Rarely is it health advice. But this morning I decided to try out something I saw on a list of "Five Things You Should Do Every Morning". Or something similarly titled. Among it's mercifully short list- side note, do ya'll read the posts that offer 100 chicken recipes or 42 of the best beauty secrets or 99 things your toddler should know by age 3? I feel overwhelmed by the title much less all the information it promises to share- anyway, as I was saying, on it's short list was to drink a cup of hot water with lemon slices in it. Kind of sounds interesting, doesn't it? Kind of healthy and cozy all at the same time.

So, I tried it. Now, the kids were disappointed to peek in there and find steaming lemons where they would usually find hot chocolate, but it kept the sweet little monkey carriers out of my cup, so I guess that's a good thing. Piping hot water, thick tangy slices of lemon and stir. And sip. Way too hot. Try it again and whoa, that tastes awful.

By the middle of the mug, it was bearable, by the end it took all my control not to throw it all back up. Let me tell you, fresh lemon slices that have been steeping for about 20 mins in hot water are potent when there isn't much water left. Geh, it was terrible.

I will say, that I felt quite peppy after my vitamin C drink. But I would have to say it's probably more suited to being an appetite suppressant drink rather than health food because  I could barely eat a waffle after that ordeal.

So, in summary, I might try it again tomorrow, just to see if the peppy thing was real or imagined (and because I have 3/4 of a lemon to use up). I could use some pep these days. But I will only do it after I eat first. And most likely, the next time the kids peek in my mug, it will be hot chocolate.

Oh, and the title? That was just to lure you in. . .  It worked. :)
