I want to remember them crunching away on their popcorn as they sat together, in the same seat. A perfect fit and no one complained. Probably my favorite part of the whole evening.
I want to remember how small Kaylen's arm was as she put it on her arm rest, how soft the palm of her hand was as I set some m&m's in it. I want to remember her sweet, baby voice interpreting the emotions as she saw them, "He is sad, Mommy. He needs his mommy and daddy!" or "He not nice."
I want to remember Jacob's expression as he felt like he was flying right along with Dusty in the movie.
I want to remember the look that said a thousand words as Tony smiled over their heads at me. Loving their delight, loving their innocence, loving them. A man who works so hard so that he can take an hour and a half to watch a silly movie and revel in their delight.
I want to remember their hands, baby hands, holding onto their ticket stubs. Jacob telling Kaylen as we walked in, "Don't lose your ticket!"
I want to remember their enthusiasm as we discussed the movie as we left and the simple and so sincere, "I loved it!" from my boy. I shall have to be sure he doesn't attempt any literal flights of fancy from his play
set in the next few days.
set in the next few days.
I want to remember being so completely in love with my family, even sweet Marlee who stayed with Grammie, and the joy that making them smile brings. The joy that comes from spending time with a man who doesn't even have to use words to tell me a complete paragraph about how much he adores our kids.
So grateful for this happy night, thank you, Lord, for this blessing.
